Goodreads Synopsis: Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.
Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.
For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .
Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.
First, I want to point out how hideous these covers are.
I hated Bloodlines, The Golden Lily was alright, I really enjoyed The Indigo Spell,The Fiery Heart reminded me why I almost didn’t want to continue reading the series after the first book… and Silver Shadows? Ugh. It took me well over a month, almost two, to read Silver Shadows. I’d read a chapter and get so upset that I’d set it down for a day or two, then I’d read a chapter and get upset… Repeat.
Here’s my brief spoiler-y summary:
Sydney is in re-education, it did not grip me at all. People hate her, then she makes friends. While Sydney is locked up, self-absorbed Adrian is out partying and being a major disappointment. Oh and he kisses another girl. What a freaking asshat! (Excuse my French). Boring boring boring. Finally Sydney uses magic to save the Alchemists from re-inkings, Adrian and his crew break in and save Sydney and all the Alchemists. Adrian and Sydney go on the run and get married in Vegas while being chased, then go back to court and find out Jill has been captured.
Am I the only one who was annoyed that as soon as Adrian was with Sydney again all he wanted was sex? THERE IS MORE TO A RELATIONSHIP THAN SEX, YOU DINGUS. That just made me want to rip the book into a million pieces and set it on fire.
As much as I hated reading Silver Shadows, I’ll have to buy The Ruby Circle at some point and finish the series, even though I could care less what happens at this point.
